Who?

On the cover of AMCN in 1985,

thats' Robert on the GTR

Robert has been involved in riding & building bikes for most of his life, his first accident was at 10 years of age where he lost half a toe while riding a home built Go Kart being towed behind a Honda Cub on the flat roads of Mundijong in Western Australia. Just a tip, plastic lawn mower wheels overheat and explode over 50 miles an hour!

The "PITS" was a half page feature that appeared in every issue of AMCN that Robert created and was kept alive after he left AMCN, unfortunately without his acerbic style the PITS lost its way and died.

While at AMCN Robert also contributed to Australian Trail & Track, Car Australia & 4x4 Australia

Racing became a huge part of Roberts life, not just on the track but behind the scenes.

Robert was an Assistant Clerk of Course for the Swann Super Bike Series & the Shell Super Bike Series. Then Clerk of Course for the Shell and Aussie Land Super Bike series.

During the late '80s when motorcycle racing was losing it's way and popularity in Australia, he was able to look outside the box for new sponsorship that would encourage commercial television to become involved, the Aussie Land Super Bike series, that was televised on Nines Wide World of Sports, gave motorcycle racing a new lease on life. Robert along with the legendary Mick Hone & one that will remain nameless, were the driving force behind the revitalisation of Phillip Island, leading to a round of the 500cc World Championship coming to Australia.

Robert also developed the very first Motorcycle celebrity race in Australia, that went to air on ABC television. This featured the very best riding talent available, greats such as Mal Campbell, Kevin Magee (Who at the time was riding 500's for Yamaha, was given permission to race a Honda), Buster Saunders and many others.

These guys were teamed up with a variety of journalists and celebs all riding 250 road bikes. A Le mans start (somewhere out there, there is a picture of Tiny Buster Saunders, push starting his riding partner the rather large Will Hagon) with a rider change at the half way mark lead to some great and funny moments. Not to mention some of these "stock" 250 commuter bikes provided by Honda & Kawasaki dealers were running slicks and av gas...

Robert raced, 250 production, Superbikes and Sidecars during his time on the track and broke many a bone along the way.

Robert also owned the Chrysler/Valiant "muscle car" business Dr. Hemi in the Melbourne suburb of Airport West, where the restoration of classic muscle was a passion. The passion ran so strong, vehicles were not sold to people that necessarily had the cash, but to people that shared his passion.

So in short if you want passion and

know how......Look no further!
